FTCC Golf Team Plays Best Match of the Year
Trojan golf team posted their two best rounds of the year at the Spring Eagle Classic hosted by Wake Tech at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh April 25-26 in the six team field. The team posted 316 on Saturday and 317 Sunday to finish second with a 633 by one stroke to the Johnston CC Jaguars who posted a 632. The Surry Knights tied the Trojans for second and the Wake Tech Eagles posted a 635. The Central Carolina CC Cougars finished with a team 682. Richard Bland College did not post a team score as one player withdrew on the first day. This was the closest match the Trojans have played in with the top four teams within 3 strokes.
The highlight of the match came on the first day when Trojan freshman, Zach Johnson, hit a hole-in-one on the par 3, 13th hole. Tyler Fox posted his best completion scores and Austin Sandford, once again led the team. Andrew Harmon also shot his low round of the year, 82, on Saturday. Sanford finished tied for 4th overall and Fox and Johnson tied for 6th, one stroke behind.

The first year team is peaking heading into its last and longest match of the year at Camp LeJeune for the 45th Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. The match will be played March 31-April 2 with 30 teams from community colleges and universities.
