WILMINGTON – Cape Fear Community College hit a blistering 62.8 percent of its shots from the field and had six players in double figures as it routed Fayetteville Tech 129-80 on Friday. Tai-He Jeter came off the bench to lead the Cape Fear scoring with 22 points. Trae Bryant added 19 and Trevor Willis 16.
Cape Fear had a crushing edge in rebounding, 48-19.
Cameron Grigsby topped Fayetteville Tech with 17. Kenny Walters and Tristan Rodriguez had 14 points each.
The loss was Fayetteville Tech’s third in a row and fourth in its last five games. All of the losses came in road games. Fayetteville Tech hasn’t played at home at Reid Ross Classical High School since before Thanksgiving. The Trojans are 4-6.
The Fayetteville Tech men and women will be in action today in a doubleheader at Johnston Community College. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
The men have added a game with the University of North Carolina junior varsity team to their schedule. The game will be played Monday at 7 p.m. at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
