Five players scored in double figures as the Fayetteville Tech men’s basketball team won its home opener Wednesday, routing the University of Mount Olive junior varsity, 114-75.
The game was played at Fayetteville Tech’s home court, the Reid Ross Classical School gym.
Despite the lopsided score Fayetteville featured a balanced attack with Tristan Rodriguez of Gastonia Ashbrook leading the way with 20 points. Kehlo Chavis of Charlotte Queens Grant had 19, Cameron Grigsby of Seventy-First 18, former Pine Forest star Kenny Walters 16 and Jayquan Bush of Knightdale 13.
Grigsby led Fayetteville in rebounds with five.
Fabian Ramen led Mount Olive with 22. Holden Pate scored 18 while Jimmy and Nick Forte scored 13 each.
Fayetteville Tech, 1-1 on the season, returns to its home court Saturday for a 3 p.m. game with Catawba Valley Community College. It will be a doubleheader with the Fayetteville Tech women, who will face Lenoir Community College at 1 p.m.
